Trio Sensory Wand is expertly handcrafted by Zofia and her support team in Florida created to celebrate people with Down syndrome. Down syndrome occurs in babies born with extra chromosome 21 material in their cells and is also known as Trisomy 21 - meaning there are 3 (tri) copies of chromosome (somy) 21. This wand’s design is inspired by the blue and yellow butterfly symbolizing the many qualities we admire in people with Down syndrome. Each wand is decoupaged onto a wooden dowel in alternating patterns and contains different ribbons hand-chosen by Zofia for their various textures attached by a split ring to allow for free, flowing movement. A durable black foam grip is added to each wand’s base conforming uniquely to the hand creating more comfort and less fatigue. Providing structured sensory activities throughout the day can help prevent unregulated behaviors and give children the input they crave!

Zofia’s story behind Sensory Wands:
Zofia, who has multiple diagnoses of DS, Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD), began creating and using sensory fidget wands in response to her own increasing sensory needs in order to manage her emotions and better regulate herself.
Zofia, like others with neurodevelopmental differences such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and ADHD, shows unusual responses to sensory experiences compared to other typically developing children of the same chronological age. As an under responsive sensory seeker, Zofia’s brightly colored and stimulating wands give her a variety of needed sensory input, including tactile, visual & auditory that is both therapeutic and entertaining!
